And it's sort of true. Most of their current lineup is made up of lousy econoboxes but, in my honest opinion, the look pretty good. I'd take a newer Galant (that car is no longer listed on the Mitsucars website so I guess you can't have one brand new?) over a Camry/Accord any day of the week.
The Mirage may be cheap, basic motoring at its finest and while it may not be fast, it's making 74 horsepower out of a 3 cylinder N/A engine. My 04 xB made 101 Horses with a 4 cylinder. So the Mirage can't be far behind in performance. I'd like to see someone put a turbo onto this car.
A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about my 08 Lancer. I then found out that the 09 had a slightly bigger, more powerful engine. My only real issue with the car was performance. I would own an 09 with the better engine in a heartbeat. I mean just look at it! That's a FANTASTIC looking N/A family sedan. It's very aggressive looking and the styling is very Japanese.
I've been inside an Outlander and it feels exactly like the Lancer I owned but with a bigger body. Now this may not be the best looking SUV on the road but it certainly isn't bad.
If Mitsubishi is doing one thing right, it's the vehicle design.
Except the Sportback. They should've kept the wagon. Although, done properly, it can be a great looking hatch.

I'd much rather have a Lancer over a Camry or Corolla.
The Evo is a great car, just expensive

I always thought this generation looked the best. I still have one as my DD.

Remove this picture; it does not help your case at all.

Same could be said for the Subaru STI though. I've noticed Mitsu does a good job competing with the Impreza lineup, but their marketing is pretty much non existant.

That is a beautiful Galant. Far better looking than the last gen, though the last gen is still not the worst looking thing on the road.

My '08 Lancer GTS was one nice little car. Given the chance I'd pick another one up. Mitsu could bring themselves back into the US game easily - the Lancer's styling just needs a bit of an update (it's a nearly eight year old design). Embiggen it a bit and bring in a new Galant. The Outlander is also nice, but dated. Basically they have good products, but lack of updates is their biggest detractor

I've seen a couple of these on the road and I must say, they are rather handsome looking. I'm not saddened by the lose of the Galant now since we still have the Lancer (and they were in the same category as midsized sedans). But if Mitsu went the other way and stopped making the Lancer, I'd have a Galant over any other midsize/family sedan on the market.

I miss my parent's 2001 Diamante. Handsome styling, smooth and potent V6 engine, traction with yaw control, and one of the most comfortable interiors I've ever put my ass in; the back seats were very comfortable. Plus OK mileage for a big family car and a huge trunk.

I'd rather have a base Lancer than a Impreza non Wrx.
But I'd rather have a Wrx than an Evo

The WRX is quite a bit cheaper than the EVO and really exists to compete with the Lancer Ralliart.

I've always wondered how these were. Some kid at my school owns a black one and he abuses the hell out of it, but I can see that underneath all of the dents, it was a very nice car once.

Yeah, I'd enjoy a base Wrx, or an Evo at the same price to compete better with it, instead of just competing with the Sti.

A very, very nice car. Also, all four doors had frameless windows, which was interesting and didn't create any additional wind noise. It was Mitsubishi doing what every other Japanese company should do; bring over your fullsize car and sell it to the Americans without the dumb luxury badging/gimmicks. The JDM even got an AWD version with close to 300hp.

My 08 was quite nice as well and I would love to own another one. But knowing that the 09 has a better engine just changes things. Even though the styling is 8 years old, it doesn't look terribly dated on the roads. Maybe some different lips all around and some wider fenders would be nice, but then a lot of owners already do those things themselves.

This is actually the car I begged my parents to let me buy when I turned 16, but they said it was "more car than I needed." I still kind of want one. Also, 2001 was the last year that the Diamante truly looked good. Mitsubishi ruined the nose of it in 2002.

Yes the ugly nose started in '02. *shudders*
My mom drove her '01 until they purchased a 2010 G37x sedan and she still comments on how she misses the ride quality and interior of her old Diamante. Given to my sister (lucky bitch), it was still going at 260,000 miles until an ABS sensor went, and instead of paying $800 to fix it they sold it to Carmax for $1,000.
